Love At First Feel - The Bon Scott Multi-Media “Coming of Age” Song Cycle
Thanks to Amanda who made the comment:
You would only be satisfied if he called for the festival to put on an elegiac multimedia song cycle based on the coming of age experiences of Bon Scott.
Never mind that I resemble that remark, it got me thinking about what songs would be included in an elegiac multimedia song cycle based on the coming of age experiences of Bon Scott for the Sydney Festival. Working through the AC/DC canon I reckon the following:
Can I Sit Next To You Girl
I met this girl for the first time on Saturday night
Standing in the queue at the Odeon alright
Oh I took her by surprise
When I gave her one of my lines
She started smiling at me real fine
Love At First Feel
They told me it was disgustin’
They told me it was a sin
They saw me knocking on your front door
Saw me smile when you let me in
You and me baby we’re all alone
Let’s get something goin’
While your mum and dad ain’t home
Squealer
She said she’d never been,
Never been touched before.
hummm
She said she’d never been
This far before
She said she’d never liked, hummm
To be excited
She said she always had
Had to fight it
And she never won
She said she’d never been
Never been balled before
A Touch To Much
She had the face of an angel
Smiling with sin
A body of Venus with arms
Dealing with danger
Stroking my skin
Let the thunder and lightening start
It wasn’t the first
It wasn’t the last
It wasn’t that she didn’t care
She wanted it hard
And wanted it fast
She liked it done medium rare
The Jack
But how was I to know
That she’d been shuffled before
Said she’d never had a Royal Flush
But I should have known
That all the cards were comin’
From the bottom of the pack
And if I’d known what she was dealin’ out
I’d have dealt it back
Kicked In The Teeth
Two faced woman with the two faced lies
I hope your two faced living made you satisfied
Tell me baby I was your only one
While you’ve been running around town
with every mother’s sonTold your story about the women like you
Told your story about the things you do
I used to think that you were sugar and spice
I should’ve listened to my mother’s advice
There you have it. I’m just going to sit by the phone now and wait for the organisers of the Sydney Festival to ring. It will be the hit of 2008!
Wait. This is supposed to be a multi-media presentation. Errr, here is a picture of Bon.

Whatever you do don’t get Twyla Tharp to choreograph it.
And ta for fixing my spelling of “elegiac.”

Still no phone call. I assumed they are still stunned by the potential awesomeness of the production and when they recover, they’ll be on the blower.

shaun - your (producer etc) story doesn’t work unless you struggle against the sceptical unbelievers of your vision for years. hang in there.

i love this song cycle.
beyond this (admittedly astute) playlist, what would an “elegiac multimedia song cycle” actually look like?

Not sure, but I’m sure there would have to be interpretive dance at some stage.
