Monkin’ around

I stumbled onto The Monks via some thread on Fark. They were a 60s group that twisted the conventions of the time that sorta sounds familiar but with a wicked, twisted edge.

Check out the following vid Monk Chant. You have jungle drums, fuzz bass, blackboard nail dragging organ solo, a communal tapping, proto-feedback guitar solo, 60s via Germany Gregorian chants and an intro from a cute German girl. And then there are the monkish haircuts. Is there anything missing?

The answer to the last question is yes, indeed something is missing. What about some banjo? Therefor I give you Boys are Boys and Girls are Choice.

Nope. It’s perfect and it’s set me up nicely for the Scientists this Wednesday.

We understand that at RnRD. The Scientists, now that is tres cool. Sometimes I think there is too much music to listen to in one lifetime.

A Buddhist musical reincarnation just to get through it all?
